The Georgia aquarium is the largest aquarium in the world, measuring more than 600,000 square feet-containing approximately 10 million gallons of water. Sounds insane, right?? IT IS!
I had no idea what to expect because honestly I just couldn’t fathom being face to face with both that amount of water or the large sea animals they have at the exhibit.
All parking is in a garage and costs $10 for members, $12 for non-members. Make sure to take your parking ticket in with you! You pay parking prices after your visit at the aquarium at the designated parking kiosks located near elevators.
The aquarium offers early bird tickets for $30.95 + tax (online only) until 11AM every day of the week. After my experience, I highly recommend getting early bird tickets ahead of time and arriving as early as possible. Although they are open 365 days a year, their hours vary. Find aquarium hours here. We were able to arrive at 9AM, (there were few people there at that time) it took us about an hour and a half to get through the aquarium and by 10:30Am, it was packed. Children under 3 are always free. Find all ticket pricing here.
The experience
I felt like a child going through this aquarium. I was so fascinated by all the exhibits and the overall size. As soon as you walk into the aquarium, you’re faced with a large common area that goes off into separate sections for different galleries and exhibits. I’ll say honestly my favorite was the Ocean Voyager. This was the exhibit that amazed me the most and also kept Addison’s attention the best (her attention span is a little short right now being only 1 1/2 years old).
It only took us about an hour and a half to get through the entire aquarium with taking photos and video. This did not include any shows or tours which they also offer. This was by far one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had and we plan to go back!
