I’ve always half-assed my master bedroom. Without ever saying it out loud, Anthony and I just always mutually left it simple and never splurged because number one, no one ever goes in the master bedroom but us. Number two, we had no clue what we were missing out on. We decided that this time around, we were going all in and making our bedroom exactly what we’ve always wanted. It’s where we sleep after all. The theme we chose for our bedroom is the theme basically throughout our entire loft apartment. This is our take on an urban, industrial style, loft apartment master bedroom.
The first thing I bought for our bedroom was a linen duvet. I knew for sure that we were going to make our bed as comfortable as humanly possible and I’ve heard linen is the best bedding there is. Linen can be so crazy expensive, like hundreds of dollars just for the sheet. I know, sounds nuts, right? While I’m all about high quality, I’m not always all about the price that follows- so I found a great option for a linen duvet at H&M, and it’s perfect! As far as a sheet set, because of the high price point for 100% linen, we opted for a linen blend sheet, which in my opinion feels almost exactly like 100% linen. With all of that being said, the linen “messy” look was what we wanted the highlight of our room decor to be and I’ve never ever had a better looking, more comfortable bed in my life. If you have never tried linen or linen blend sheets, you need to. It’s been a game changer in my book for sure.
As far as the overall vibe of the room, we based it around our sheets because that was the most important part to me. I love that laid back look and decided to revolve our room around that. Our night stands are my next favorite part of our room. They’re mid-century modern style, which isn’t the theme of the room, but works for urban which is what I was going for. I love it so much when things don’t match, but somehow at the same time do match because of the overall vibe.
Texture and layering, in my opinion, pulls a room together completely. You can make almost anything look amazing and put together with some layers and texture. I chose a lot of faux fur because it works with our theme and of course it’s very soft. I just love the look of a few throw pillows and blankets on a bed, it looks and feels cozier. Then of course, layering rugs. I’m such a huge fan of layering rugs. It doesn’t always work, depending on the texture and pattern of the main rug, but when it does it can make a room.
I’m a neutral color type of gal, I like my pops of color to be the greenery of plants. Since my room doesn’t have a ton of natural light, we opted for a few fake plants that just really tie the room together. I am so pleased with the way that my urban, industrial style, loft master bedroom turned out, it’s one of my favorite spaces in my entire apartment. Here you can watch our full bedroom tour video!
